About Me

I'm a foodie through and through and as my father says I 'live to eat, not eat to live'. Why? Food has the power to recall childhood memories, transport you to far flung foreign countries and most importantly brings people together. To love food is to love discovering, experiencing and reliving.

After A-levels I enrolled onto a Patisserie and Confectionery course at my local college, but soon realised the fast paced and unsocialable hours of a chef wasn't for me. Lost and uncertain of how to incorporate my foodie passion into a future career, I took the decision to go off backpacking solo across Thailand. I quickly discovered Thailand had a culture and cuisine so far removed from anything at home, a delight to the senses. I fell in love with the adventure of the unknown, but travelling did more for me than gain me that spare tyre. It was on a beach in Kho Phi Phi, where there were no distractions other than the tickling of sand between my toes and the feeling of my freckles appearing across my sun kissed skin, that I realised enrolling on to a 'Food and Consumer Studies' degree at Harper Adams University was the right decision for me. Initially nervous of being a mature student and being thrown back into the world of learning, I soon realised this was the best choice I had ever made. It’s here I'm feeding my insatiable appetite every foodie yearns to learn such as the psychology behind food choices, the relationship between food and society, from farm gate to plate and the ingenuity of food marketing.

Eventually I want to venture into the food industry as a new product developer or venture into the TV industry to combine my love of food and travel and educate others about the weird and wonderful the world is offering (and eating).

I still love jetting off on culinary adventures across the globe, with recent travels across South America and Sri Lanka booked next. I've recorded most of my travels so keep your eyes peeled for video updates.

In the mean time I'll blog about random foodie topics that capture my interest, my travels and hobbies.

Enjoy!

Love Lottie x
